Home Improvement Tends During Social Distancing
This year our chance to enjoy spring in East Tennessee was almost non-existent due to quarantine and social distancing. However, summer is almost officially here and life continues to change to find a new normal.
And business as usual, has not been so usual. As a company, we’ve learned to constantly adapt to the situation to keep our customers and employees safe. Some of the changes we made, such as Virtual Consultations, will likely continue even after the crisis is over.
Since we have, thankfully, been able to continue to serve our customers during this time, we have noticed some interesting trends that we thought we would share with you.
Home Improvement Projects Increase
Homeowners have had the time to tackle lots of home improvement projects during their extended “staycation” at home. Understandably, we have all wanted something to do with the extra time and taking care of those projects we’ve been putting off was just the ticket to relieve some of our tension, create something new and feel good about crossing off an item on our to-do list.
Whether in the home or the yard, people have been working on home improvement projects like never before. Painting, planting, cleaning, and remodeling have all seen a surge.
The Trend to Outdoors
While we normally do lots of custom closet designs during the spring, this year we have noticed more people have focused on finally cleaning out their garages and getting them organized.
Many of our customers have been a bit wary of having our crews come to work inside their homes, which is understandable. However, they still have projects they want to complete and garage projects are less invasive and much better in a socially distant manner.
As a result, we’ve done several new garage flooring projects and garage cabinet installs recently. Garages in the area are looking a lot more organized!
Where the Trend is Heading
With summer just over a week away, and with people starting to get out more, we expect that the trend in garages will continue.
The need for family get-togethers and other social gatherings is going to be a strong motivation for many in the coming months. What better place to have your safe, socially distant gathering than in your brand new, custom garage?
Okay, we might be a little bit biased, but you have to admit, it does sound like fun!
